BULLHEAD CITY — In a unanimous vote, Mohave County Airport Authority welcomed Mark Golliher to the board of directors.
The uncontested nomination and vote came during a special meeting Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the conference room at Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport.
Golliher is a Vietnam veteran and 21-year veteran of Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office as a helicopter pilot. He has served as a member of the Airport Authority for about three years, including his current service on the general aviation and finance committees.
Golliher fills the vacancy left by last week’s resignation of Director Troy Teske.
Teske declined to comment on his resignation.
As reflected on the agenda, after the vote to elect Golliher to the board, a motion was made to recess until 10:30, when the board would vote to go into executive session, which is not open to the public, to confer with legal counsel on the MCAA Board of Directors’ position regarding contracts that are the subject of negotiations in pending or contemplated litigation or in settlement discussions conducted to avoid or resolve litigation related to leases with Mohave County.
The votes came just a few hours before a news release distributed by Laura Skubal, clerk of the Mohave County Board of Supervisors said that Mohave County Supervisors Ron Gould and Rich Lettman were seeking the resignations of MCAA Board President William Osborne, Treasurer Frank Stepongzi and Secretary Roger Dawes, citing “multiple concerns” including possible Arizona Open Meeting Law violations, specifically referencing private discussions related to public business — including the development of a fuel farm — being scheduled at a private residence, with multiple board members and outside the view of the public.
